Children and their jobs

My 7 year old approached me recently about a summer job. He was appalled and saddened to realize that he would have to wait 8 more years before he would be allowed, by law, to procure a job. No wanting to dash his hopes, or his work ethic, I have racked my brain trying to find an alternative. Aside from hiring him myself, which I don't want to do, what are my options? Does anyone have any thoughts on a suitable summer job for a 7 year old enthusiast?
