We have had an eventful last several weeks so I have not had the time to post...imagine that, with four kids, two dogs, one cat and one husband.:) All in all, the weeks are flying by. Work has started full swing for Darrell, which is beneficial. My garden is doing great considering the deer issue that I am having right now.
We got home from church last evening to find three deer in the garden, feasting on my veggies. Needless to say, I was upset and Darrell decided that he needed to kill them or at least try. :) He drops the children and me off at the road and tells us to drive around the block. At this point, it is dark outside and I did not want to miss the action. I then, instead of going around the block, decided to turn around in the neighbors drive and go back by the house so that I could still see the garden from the road. I guess by this point, Darrell was in the house and had procured his bow and arrow and was coming around the side of the house. I then drove back by the house and I think that I frightened them off. I turned in the drive, with my headlights off and all the children in the front seat with me, whispering, lest the deer hear them and all would be lost. Darrell comes up to the car and tells me that I scared them off. :( Oh well....
I then decided that I would spray the garden immediately. Keep in mind that I was still in my church attire. I filled up the sprayer with Liquid Fence. It is a horrendous smelling concoction of rotten eggs, garlic and coyote urine, BUT it does repel the deer.
I donned my rubber boots and proceeded to tackle the garden. All in all, I did fairly well considering that my sprayer spewed the nasty smelling liquid on me, in my church clothes. I had to immediately shower, scrubbing the smell off.
The end of the story is that I was able to pick my first squash today!!! Woohoo! Success....:)
